  • Visit a storage facility before choosing to store there. Getting the feel
of a new place is important.

  • Allow yourself plenty of time to pack your storage unit, so you
    maximize your storage space.

  • There should be no storing of any flammable goods, explosives,
perishable foods or goods, or materials of a dangerous nature.

  • Any appliances should be cleaned and dried before being put into
storage equipment and tools can rust over long periods of time,
even in storage. To prevent this, wipe the items with an oily rag.

  • When stacking items, place heavier items like tables and dressers on
the floor, and lighter, fragile items on top. Boxes should be stacked
    the same way.

  • Try to leave room to get to your more important items. If space
    permits, try leaving a walkway.
